A Love So Deep: A Good Friday Reflection

As a mom, Good Friday touches my heart in a way that’s hard to explain. It’s a day where I pause and reflect on the depth of love that was shown for us—love that went far beyond what we could ever deserve. The kind of love that would sacrifice everything to bring us back to hope.
I think about Jesus, willingly carrying the weight of our brokenness to the cross. He didn’t wait for us to be perfect. He didn’t require that we have it all together. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That verse always gives me chills—because as a mom, I get a glimpse of that kind of love. The fierce, selfless, unwavering kind. And yet, God’s love goes even deeper.

On this Friday, as the world remembers the pain, the suffering, and the cross, I also remember the purpose. He chose the cross so that we could walk in freedom. He faced rejection so we could know acceptance. He was wounded so we could be healed.
And while Good Friday is heavy, it’s not without hope. Sunday is coming. The tomb won’t stay filled. Death won’t win. And in that, I find peace. I find joy. I find the strength to keep going.
Let this be a weekend of remembrance, but also of renewal. Of quiet reflection and overflowing gratitude. May we look at the cross and not only see sacrifice—but also the greatest love story ever told.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…” (John 3:16)
Wishing you a sacred Good Friday and a joy-filled Easter,
