Don’t Miss What Is Right In Front Of You

One morning I watched Taliyah, her tiny hands cradling her baby dolls, rocking them so sweetly and whispering words only she could understand.

Trexler was right beside her, pretending to drive a big bus and was offering to take his sissy along for the ride—his face full of imagination and pure joy.

We were getting ready to head out for a fun playdate. It had been raining, and as we made our way to the car, something simple and magical happened:

they jumped in the puddles.

Their laughter broke through the gray skies.

The innocence and joy the puddles brought them was contagious—washing over me in a way I didn’t even know I needed.

The little things, the small sacred interruptions, are often the ones that should warm our hearts the most.

And as I stood there, watching their rain boots splash and their faces light up, I thought about all the other precious things unfolding right in front of me:

  • Aidan getting ready for prom tomorrow—my firstborn stepping into a brand-new chapter of life.

  • Kyler whom is now taller than me and is almost old enough to drive.

  • Tryson also almost old enough to drive.

  • Both Kyler and Tryson maturing and stepping up in so many ways.

  • Tripp hitting two home runs this season—and beamed with pride and joy.

  • Taelyn earning her spot on the honor roll—her smile wide and full of hope and requesting to go all by herself to 4H camp.

All of it—this life, these memories—they are happening right now.

Not someday. Not later.

Now.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24 (ESV

And when the day winds down and the night falls, there’s another sweetness that waits for me:

my husband and I, close, cuddling—sharing the warmth and quiet intimacy that only comes after a full, beautiful day.

It’s in these little rhythms of togetherness that my heart finds rest.

It’s in these simple, sacred moments that my smile lingers long after the day is done.

Sometimes we’re so busy moving through the day that we forget to live it.

We miss the puddles.

We miss the giggles.

We miss the whispered prayers.

We miss the quiet, steady arms that hold us at night.

Friend, this is your reminder: Slow down. Look up.

Jump in the puddles.

Laugh a little louder.

Hold them a little longer.

Rest in the arms that God has blessed you with.

Because these are the days we’ll want back.

And what’s right in front of you is already enough.

We have to slow down. We have to not fall in the normality of fast pace. Because this day goes by fast and before you know it a week is gone, a month is gone, a year is gone.

Just breath,

Chasity
