Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Bear with each other and forgive one another… And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

— Colossians 3:12–14

The Gift of Being Seen

There are moments in life when all we really need is someone who gets it.

Someone who shows up, no matter how messy things feel.

Someone who listens more than they speak.

Someone who reminds us we’re not walking alone.

That’s what friendship is meant to be.

Not perfection—but presence.

Not fixing—but feeling.

Not answers—but a shoulder.

How Do We Keep Each Other Going?

We lift each other up—one check-in, one prayer, one “I’m here if you need me” at a time.

We send the “just thinking of you” text.

We celebrate their wins, even if we’re still waiting on our own.

We cry when they cry. We cheer when they rise.

We remind them who they are when they’ve forgotten.

How to Be the Kind of Friend Who Breathes Life

• Speak truth gently.

Say what they need, not just what they want—but always with love.

• Be present.

Sometimes friendship is just sitting in silence together, without pressure.

• Pray for them.

Even when they don’t know you are.

• Assume the best.

Look for the light in them, even when they’re struggling to see it.

• Place yourself in their shoes.

Ask, “What would I need if I were in their place?” Then do that.

Friendship is Ministry

Friendship, at its best, is a sacred kind of love.

It’s the ministry of showing up.

The calling to be a reminder of God’s kindness—wrapped in skin and offered freely.

So if you’re wondering what your role is in someone’s life right now, maybe this is it:

To be the one who stays. The one who believes in them. The one who reflects back the good when they forget it’s there.

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.”

— Proverbs 17:17

That’s what friends are for.
